About Molly

Stylist and educator Molly Mikesell established Hairamedics Salon in 2002. As a master stylist with over twenty years of experience, Molly offers a wide range of services. She holds four certifications as a color and chemical theory educator, and travels nationally to teach styling and color techniques to other professionals.

Molly has been a lead stylist for the Charger Girls and City Ballet, and has worked for Project Runway, International Playmate, 944 Magazine, and Anna Deaveare Smith. She was named one of the Top 3 Stylists in 7 States by Wella International. In addition to running her salon and teaching, Molly volunteers as a stylist for Rachel’s Women’s Center in San Diego.

This year, Molly launched her new salon, a 1900-square-foot studio in La Jolla.

  • Atelier Salon

    1998–2002

    Molly worked under Tommy Aucoin and Tanner Harold at La Jolla Atelier Salon on Girard Avenue.

  • Rusk Educator

    1999–2002

    Molly taught haircutting and color for Rusk.

  • Model Call

    2002–2012

    Molly worked at Model Call Salon in La Jolla for 10 years.

  • Hairamedics is Born

    2002

    Molly started Hairamedics in La Jolla.

  • Wella Sebastian International

    2003–2007

    Molly became Certified as a Color Educator for Wella Sebastian International.

  • Fully Charged

    2007–2008

    Molly worked as the lead stylist for the Charger girls. She wrote the color formulas for the entire squad and did hair and makeup for the calendar shoot and the styling for all home games.

  • John Paul Mitchell Systems

    2008–2017

    Molly obtained certification as a National Educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems.

  • City Ballet

    2009–2011

    Molly worked as the lead stylist for San Diego’s City Ballet. In this role, she created and oversaw hairstyles for all major productions, including styling the wigs for the Nutcracker Ballet.

  • Anna Deavere Smith

    2011–2012

    Molly worked as a stylist for American actress, playwright and professor Anna Deavere Smith.

  • 944 Magazine

    2013

    Molly styled hair for 944 Magazine and was named Top Stylist by Wella for a photo shoot contest which was published in 944.

  • Project Runway

    2014

    Molly worked as a stylist for Project Runway.

  • International Playmate

    2001–Present

    Molly has worked with longtime client Lisa Davis/DJ Miss Lisa, styling her hair for her album coves and photo shoots, including the International Playmate spread.

  • National Color Educator

    2018–Present

    Molly works as a highly requested National Color Educator and Technical Advisor for Oligo Professionnel, a company based in Montréal that supplies high-end hair care products to cosmetic companies around the world.

  • Oligo Professional

    2018–Present

    Molly became a technical Advisor for Oligo Professional.

  • Rachel’s Women’s Center

    2018–Present

    Molly serves as a volunteer for Rachel’s Women’s Center, an organization that provides overnight, emergency, short/midterm, safe and sober shelter for homeless women.

  • New Hairamedics Salon

    2021

    In August, the new Hairamedics salon opened its doors at 7301 Girard Ave.

Certification covers the ins and outs of creative techniques, hair painting and color foil placements as well as the use of the blacklight lightening system to achieve unique options for customizing blonding services.

    A certification for beauty industry professionals, the BARBICIDE® Certification offers instruction in infection control consistent with the current highest industry standards.

    This certification was built off the core foundation of a grassroots curriculum created by Candy Shaw, aka the Balay Lama®. It highlights key fundamentals of the perfect balayage: Consistency, Brush Stroke, and Saturation.
